The Role

We are looking for a talented, dedicated and energetic Lead Compliance & Risk to join our Legal & Compliance team and report to Ilse Westerhof.

What you'll do...

You will get the opportunity to learn and gain experience in the exiting and dynamic world of FinTech’s. As the Lead Compliance & Risk at a scale-up, truly international and digital company, you will be challenged to work on a broad spectrum of exciting matters on a daily basis.

You will operate independently, proactively, and cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams across the company. As we expand our products and services globally, you will play an important role in building our Compliance & Risk function. Your initiatives and contributions will make an immediate impact and you will be responsible for your own projects and activities.

The Lead Compliance & Risk operationally manages the compliance and risk function within Recharge.com. The role includes the recognition of legal and compliance risks and issues and management and communication of those risks and issues in a timely and effective manner. The role contributes to Recharge.com’s corporate responsibility by ensuring that Recharge.com follows relevant laws and regulations, establishing transparency, good corporate

governance and legal compliance processes and procedures. This also includes and Recharge.com’s management and the business on ethical and socially responsible practices.

You will report to and be a sparring partner of the Head of Legal & Compliance, and you will be working closely together with the other Legal Counsels in the team and stakeholders in Recharge.com.


Key Responsibilities...

  • Leading, developing and managing an effective risk control framework and strategy

  • Implement and enhance Recharge.com internal controls using appropriate systems to monitor and report adherence to them

  • Contribute to drafting and revision of company compliance processes and related policies

  • Lead and manage on behalf of Recharge.com any government/site inspection in line with local legislation/requirements

  • Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify risks and implement any required process improvements

  • Evaluate business activities and our supply chain to assess compliance risk and put in place a robust strategy to mitigate risk

  • Collaborate with Recharge.com's external advisors and internal departments as necessary

  • Communicate, report and escalate compliance risks to senior management

  • Educate and train employees on regulations, Recharge.com position in its ecosystem and industry practices

  • Commitment to continued learning and professional development, remaining current with changing legislation both locally and internationally that could impact the business


What you'll bring:

  • a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Law) from a Dutch university;

  • a Master’s degree;

  • at least 5-7 years of relevant working experience as a compliance and/or legal officer in a related sector (FinTech);

  • excellent written and verbal skills in both Dutch and English with the ability to present complex matters comfortably, clearly and to the point;

  • proven experience with the payment and/or financial services industries and knowledge of associated regulatory frameworks (PSD2, AML, EMD), issues and challenges;

  • proven success in risk management and mitigation;

  • track record of integrity and professional ethics;

  • a hands-on, self-propelling approach who takes independently initiatives;

  • consistent good judgment and ability to help create pragmatic business solutions;

  • the ability to get the job done under pressure and constructively adapt to change;

  • a digital mindset, you are excited and passionate about exploring digital innovation and technology and feel comfortable working in an informal and fast-changing tech environment; and

  • a down-to-earth (‘no ego’), positive and personable approach. You are a proactive, inspiring team member with a flexible attitude and great influencing and communication skills.

The process

4. Assignment & Second interview: Some roles involve a case study. Great! It’s your chance to shine and show us you have what it takes. You’ll present your case study to the Hiring Manager and someone from the team

5. Third Interview: You’ll meet with a key member of the management team
