The role
We’re on the hunt for a talented, enthusiastic and energetic Legal Counsel for our close-knit Legal & Compliance team at Recharge.com based in Amsterdam.
You will get the opportunity to learn and gain new experience in a high-growth, truly international and digital company, where you will work on a broad spectrum of exciting matters on a daily basis.
As our business is exploring and navigating uncharted digital space, you may be challenged to creatively apply your legal expertise to unique and complex aspects of the law. Besides good business acumen and commercial pragmatism is of the essence within our dynamic environment.
This also means you can cope with incidentally working under time pressure. You will report to and are a sparring partner of the Head of Legal & Compliance, and you will be working closely together with the other in-house counsel and stakeholders in the company.

What will you do

As a Legal Counsel at a scale-up, a truly international and digital company, you will be challenged to work on a broad spectrum of exciting matters on a daily basis
As our business is exploring and navigating uncharted digital space, you may be challenged to creatively apply your legal expertise to unique and complex aspects of the law. Also, you will need to have good business insight and be committed to delivering high-quality and pragmatic advice under time pressure
You will operate independently, proactively, and cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams across the company
As we expand our products and services globally, you will play an important role in building our legal function, negotiating contracts, supporting M&A projects, while ensuring compliance
Your initiatives and contributions will make an immediate impact and you will be responsible for your own projects and activities
Your daily work will range from reviewing, negotiating, and drafting high-end contracts, ensuring compliance with financial regulation, and corporate housekeeping
Projects where you will be working on include activities relating to our global expansion and supporting the business with new products or initiatives
You will report into and be a sparring partner of the Head of Legal & Compliance, and you will be working closely together with the Senior Legal Counsel and other stakeholders in the company.
What you have
A Master’s degree in Law, preferably from a Dutch university
At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in a law firm, in-house or consulting environment, including drafting and negotiating contracts
Familiarity with the payment and/or financial services industries and knowledge of associated, regulatory frameworks (PSD2 and PSD3, AML, EMD), issues and challenges
Experienced in negotiating IT contracts
Knowledge of corporate governance and experience with corporate housekeeping is regarded as a plus, as well as M&A experience
Excellent written and verbal skills in both Dutch and English with the ability to present complex matters comfortably, clearly and to the point
A hands-on, self-propelling approach. Someone who likes to take the initiative but is also able to timely ask for help when needed
Consistent good judgement and ability to help create pragmatic business solutions, while managing legal risk
The ability to get the job done under pressure and constructively adapt to change
A digital mindset. You are excited and passionate about exploring digital innovation and technology and feel comfortable working in an informal and fast-changing tech environment
A down-to-earth (‘no ego’), positive and personable approach. You are a proactive, inspiring team member with a flexible attitude, with great influencing and communication skills.
